There aren't any copyright problems.

Apple contributed this code to the FSF.  I accepted it (its sitting in 
ftp://sources.redhat.com/pub/gdb/contrib/apple/).  Adam, who has an FSF 
assignment in place, picked up the contributed work and started hacking 
it to the point were it could be integrated into current GDB.
