How about:
gdb.mi/ChangeLog-1995
gdb.mi/ChangeLog-1996
gdb.mi/ChangeLog-1997
gdb.mi/ChangeLog-1998
gdb.mi/ChangeLog-1999
gdb.mi/ChangeLog-2000
gdb.mi/ChangeLog-2001
gdb.mi/ChangeLog-2002
gdb.mi/ChangeLog-2003
testsuite/gdb.mi/ChangeLog-1999
testsuite/gdb.mi/ChangeLog-2000
testsuite/gdb.mi/ChangeLog-2001
testsuite/gdb.mi/ChangeLog-2002
testsuite/gdb.mi/ChangeLog-2003
It's a bunch more entries for config/djgpp/fnchange.lst,
but the names will never change again. And it would be clear that
new changelog entries don't belong in testsuite/gdb.mi/ChangeLog-2003.

I don't get it: gdb/mi/ and gdb/testsuite/gdb.mi/ both have a single
ChangeLog file. Why would we want to create multiple files from them?
If all you want is to slightly change the name and put the years in
it, why not simply
gdb/mi/ChangeLog.1995-2003
gdb/testsuite/gdb.mi/ChangeLog.1999-2003
?

The intent is that there will never be a file named 'ChangeLog'
testsuite/gdb.mi again.
So actually, if someone does re-create testsuite/gdb.mi/ChangeLog, then
the ARI entry for "duplicate files" should not be solved by adding
fnchange.lst entries, it should be solved by removing
testsuite/gdb.mi/ChangeLog and putting the new entries in
testsuite/ChangeLog where they belong. The ARI 8.3 warning is thus
a twisted kind of feature. :)

We don't have any 100% fool-proof machinery to do that. Unless they
all use Emacs, someone could simply create a ChangeLog file and commit
it.

Someone swift enough might check-in additional lines for fnchange.lst
without waiting for ARI's alert.
Also, if you want precedents for the names I suggested, gdb/tcl/ has
ChangeLog files with the .NNNN extension.
Anyway, there's no much sense in continuing this argument. I already
said that I'll leave it up to Andrew to decide; I'll go along with
whatever he finds best.

For what its worth I think the only deciding factor here is the presence
gdb/ChangeLog-YYYY file name convention. If those didn't exist, or had
adopted a different convention, we'd be following that. (I kind of like
the .NNNN choice but its now too late. Well, unless we rename all the
other ChangeLog files that is :-)
enjoy,
Andrew

Yes. I think it looks better, too.

Hmm, wouldn't gdb/mi/ChangeLog-1995-2003 be more consistent with
gdb/ChangeLog-2003 et.al.?

Why, you're looking for an opportunity to add more lines to
fnchange.lst even when they can be avoided? ;-)

(We'll next be renaming gdb/ChangeLog-2003 to gdb/ChangeLog.2003 ... :-)
But is an fnchange entry still needed? These will be the only files
matching ChangeLo*.* in those directories. Future ChangeLog entries
will go in src/ChangeLog and src/testsuite/ChangeLog.

Ok, I've managed to remember that:
mi/ChangeLog
gdb.mi/ChangeLog
others?
need to be renamed out of existance. Any suggestions as to what they
should be renamed to?
