Not sure whether this is the right way to go about this, so sorry in
advance if I'm breaching etiquette here...

I have some large FR-V sim patches that I'd like to submit.  Dave Brolley
seems OK with them in principle.  However, it would be more convenient
for both him and me if I had write-after-approval access in order to
check them in.  Is it OK to ask for that up-front?

FYI:
                         Write After Approval
                            (alphabetic)

To get recommended for the Write After Approval list you need a valid
FSF assignment and have submitted one good patch.

I've had changes to sim/mips accepted in the past, does that qualify?

(I wondered about that) Yes, you've had patches approved in the past, so 
yes you should add yourself.
