Yes. Nick patch has two bits:
1. Linux native async mode (which Pedro is looking at as we speak)
2. Core async mode changes.

My patches addresses (2), and I've used both Nick's patch and Apple
branch source as reference.

Yes, it's target async, and it's really running asynchronously.
