es register in core dump shows as 32 bit on IA32 on gdb 6.6, bug?

Sorry for reposting my question with a different subject.
I think the last subject did not do enough justice to the question.

On IA32 running Debian-linux with kernel version: 2.6.21.3
A core dump of an application when opened in gdb6.6 
shows the es register to be 32 bit. 

I need to know if anyone here considers this a bug in gdb, so I can 
be confident enough to turn it in as a bug.
I can provide more info if requested.

  It sounds pretty much like a bug to me, please feel free to file a report in
gdb bugzilla.  (Nobody will get upset if it's a false alarm!)
