I've changed jobs recently; mail to jimb@redhat.com now bounces.
However, there are a number of PRs in the GDB Gnats database that use
that address as the submitter's address, etc. I'd like to change
those to jimb@sourceware.org.
Andrew Cagney raised some concerns about revising history and
affecting the copyright ownership status of the bugs. However, I
don't think we have anything to worry about here; the dates on the
bugs are clearly those during which I worked at Red Hat, and lots of
people use personal E-mail addresses to file bugs while employed by a
company with a copyright assignment.
Anyway, the result is that the overseers would be more comfortable
with the change if the GDB group signed off on it.

Jim,
See my earlier e-mail.
I think we should simply get rid of the entire problem by, finally,
switching the entire database to bugzilla - do that and any concerns
issues you raise are mute. Can we organize that?

I'd wager he's seen your original email, since he referenced it in his
message. Could you please be more clear if you still have a concern?

I don't see how that has anything to do with this, except that the
sourceware Bugzilla maintainer has a policy of honoring requests
like Jim's (which I fully agree with).
Andreas Schwab made a sensible suggestion for dealing with the changes
in PR numbers. Someone merely needs to build a consensus for the
switch and Get It Done.

I think the switch to Bugzilla is a great idea, but there's no reason
to tie a minor fixup that would be an immediate convenience for me to
a large migration project.

Since you feel strongly that we should be focusing on just your specific
occurance of this problem, then, sure (there are a number of other
people in an identical situtation, I guess we can re visit them later).
I believe that the e-mail address you want to consider though is
jimb@sourceware.org. At least that is what has been used for all recent
gnats additions, and means that in the future only one address (the
.forward) will need to be updated.

I hadn't anticipated the policy discussions, but that aside, I feel
that the benefit to me is worth the effort required.

That's fine with me.
Are there any further objections?
