The state of this is that while gdb tries to use the markup, nobody has
done the work to fix up the build to create a .pot file, etc.

I see we don't even have a bug about this, so I filed one:

Anyway I think a change like this would be welcome.

We'd need some education on what to do in terms of working with the
translation project.
