build broken when no msgfmt available?

I was trying to built the tree after I specified my host combination the
hard way (alpha-dec-osf1) and it stopped after a while:

Making all in po
file=./`echo fr | sed 's,.*/,,'`.gmo  && rm -f $file && PATH=../src:$PATH msgfmt -o $file fr.po
sh: msgfmt: not found
*** Exit 1
Stop.

I was under the impression that gdb needed no external dependencies to
compile, is this still valid?

(Sorry for being lame to not post a patch, but want to make sure my
thoughts on the entire project are still accurate. :))

Can you try reconfiguring with "--disable-nls"?

To the GDB developppers,

Maybe we should add a check, and automatically disable nls if msgfmt is
not avail?

That should probably fix it, I'll try in the morning, don't have dial-in
to work fixed yet. =\

That would definately save some headscratching.  I totally forgot about
the nls stuff.
