I'm sorry, this was my mistake. I misunderstood what Andrew had said.

Perhaps circumstances are different this time. gdb-mi.el will synchronise
with GDB (it needs at least GDB 6.1 currently) and work with Emacs 21.4
gdb-ui.el will synchronise with Emacs and work with many versions of GDB.
There are many other benefits as Andrew has already outlined, not least
the migration of Emacs from annotations to GDB/MI.

Many GDB developers will not be interested in this file. Thats fine, it won't
break GDB and theres only a very small data overhead. Some may take an
interest and help its development which is the reason for its
inclusion. However, I fail to see how it can be a negative experience for
anyone.
