I have a theory,

Dinosaurs are thin at one end, get fat in the middle, and er, sorry that 
is someone elses theory.

Lets try another theory:  GDB's corollary to Goodwin's Law.

``Every discussion about netiquette is reduced to quoting/referencing 
slabs of $GURU's latest manifest.''

As with Goodwin's law, at this point the thread is dead.  Oh, and as 
with Goodwin's law, the self referental nature of this corrolary means 
that invoking it is beyond debate ;-).
