Hello,
How can I eliminate the installation of include, lib, man and info
directories when running 'gmake install'? I tried to figure this out in the
Makefile but got nothing.
Is there any crucial need for these directories I'm not aware to?

You can use install-gdb to run install only in the gdb directory, for
example.

Running 'gmake install-gdb' still installs the lib/*.a files, (as well as
the man files). I don't see why I need .a files in the installation. Can I
eliminate this? Am I missing something?

Just copy the generated gdb binary.
