Sure does:

[daedalus@mojo thunk]$ g++ -g3 -c thunk.cpp
[daedalus@mojo thunk]$ ls
thunk.cpp  thunk.o
[daedalus@mojo thunk]$ g++ -g3 -o thunk thunk.o -static
[daedalus@mojo thunk]$ ls
thunk  thunk.cpp  thunk.o
[daedalus@mojo thunk]$ gdb ./thunk
