Hi,
The following set of patches adds support for National Semiconductor CR16 family
processors.

0001: Remove "gdb" from noconfigdirs in top-level configure.ac.
0002: Handle cr16*-*-*linux and cr16*-*-* in configure.tgt.
0003: the port itself in gdb.
0004: the port in gdbserver with target description.
0005: NEWS.

All these changes are cr16 specific. The simulator related changes for
supporting gdb have been posted and checked in earlier,
http://sourceware.org/ml/gdb-patches/2012-08/msg00863.html

Thanks Mike, Yao and Pedro for all your inputs till now.
These patches have been tested with 7.5 release and get applied to latest
snapshots as well.

These patches have been posted earlier, but had multiple diffs so posting
them in separate threads here. Kindly review the same and let me know if any
modifications are necessary.

Regards,
Kaushik Phatak

Thank you.

Do you or your company have an assignment on file with the FSF?
I looked at the records, and could find one entry, but I am not sure
it was for your company, and it was also for a different project.

I would merge 2 & 3, as they are clearly related. And if you applied
2, but not 3, even though you wouldn't break any other build, you'd
introduce a target that doesn't build, because the -tdep files are
missing. (this is not a strong opinion - Pedro might think differently
and I would defer to him).

Yes, that would be OK with me. I will merge them once I finish
up the changes requested for gdb patch.
I had posted them separately based on the tic6x port contributed
by Yao last year,
http://sourceware.org/ml/gdb-patches/2011-07/msg00502.html

from the thread: "Re: [RFA 2/5]..."

I think I will just remove this as native build is not planned.

Thanks!

Kaushik
