Eli,

Would you know happen to know where texinfo.tex is now published?  I'm 
trying to update it but am having no luck finding the current version 
:-(  Perhaphs, similar to config.*, I should just pull it from the 
repository?

Try @url{ftp://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/standards/} but that copy proved more
out-of-date than what was in @file{etc/}.

Karl Berry, who maintains Texinfo, keeps the latest texinfo.tex is
here:

  ftp://tug.org/tex/texinfo.tex

Karl, would you suggest to import that version whenever GDB is about
to be released, or some other version?  And what about the following
fragment from the GDB internals manual: should we advertise the
tug.org or ftp.gnu.org as the canonical place for texinfo.tex?  TIA

Done.  GDB's doco still appears to "work" :-)

I think I'll change the url to http://www.gnu.org/software/texinfo/, and 
then people can find their way to tug from there :-)

Yes, I've imported them.

Liberty doesn't include the config files :-/

Ah, ok.  I can get it from there.  Bundling it with gnulib may make life 
easier though - a one stop shop.
