Thanks to Pedro for the reviews.
FTR, I verified that GDBserver 8.1 has the same issues as well,
so I applied the patches there, and the results on the branch
are back to nominal. In other words, the issues with the "kill"
command I saw on the master branch are not present in the 8.1 branch :).
