Humph! I was certain that I tried backing out your last gdb.exp
patch, and that it didn't help. I just tried again, and now it
seems to be working better...

Blush... I am glad you were able to zero in the source of the
problem before anybody spent any thought on this.

Here is the output I get after I backout your patch and all the other
changes in gdb.exp after yours:
