I have an idea.  I'm going to try this:

  end_psymtab ()
  {
    printf_unfiltered (MSYMBOL_SIZE(...));
    if (... stuff that never happens for us ...)
    {
      ... whatever ...;
    }
  }

I can check that MSYMBOL_SIZE is the same before and after my patch.
I don't actually need to execute the code path that *uses*
MSYMBOL_SIZE.

See you in a couple of hours or tomorrow.
