Hi Mark,
I am sending this patch in response to <http://sourceware.org/ml/gdb-patches/2013-09/msg00933.html>.
Some reviewers prefer a white list whereas others prefer a black list. So it looks like the right approach is
to compile a file and check if it is ELF.
Please let me know if this change would be acceptable to you.
