Subject: Remote logging over regular remote protocol
Date: Wed, 19 May 2010 09:33:00 -0000	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <AANLkTinNMmjTyMC91JSqkVmDeOSnA1riYJyWxgTeXZhk@mail.gmail.com> (raw)

Hello,

Do remote stubs have the ability to send logging messages to the gdb console ?
I am trying to debug a Darwin target and seeing the dmesg (or similar)
output would
be useful. The stub Darwin uses for gdb works over ethernet and I
can't figure out
how to direct the dmesg output to the host I'm debugging from (there
is no serial
port either since it's a Mac, so no serial console as far as I can tell).

The "Remote serial protocol" manual section suggests notification packets would
be usable for this, but "Stop: reply" is the only such packet type listed.

Has someone already done this ? Or am looking at it the wrong way ? Syslog's
remote capabilities seem overkill here.

Thanks,
Bogdan
