Yes, we use mingw64 gcc to build GDB from time to time. My
x86_64-w64-mingw32-g++ is 4.8.2 and 5.3.1, shipped in Ubuntu. I have no
troubles building GDB.
I can't tell what is wrong from the error messages you posted.
