Not sure how you are trying to build GDB.
I'm on x86-linux. If I do a fresh check-out of GDB:
% cvs -d sourceware.org:/cvs/src co gdb
And then build it using:
% configure
% make
It builds. Either your sources are a bit screwed, or you are using
a different environement. We'll probably need to get more info from
you to be able to help you.
