This is a little more urgent than some of my other patches, for a couple of reasons: * It really does need to go on the branch, and a followup patch (yet to be generated) fixing a determine_prefix bug that Daniel pointed out also should go on the branch. * I might have a hiccup in my copyright assignment at an unpredictable time over the next couple of months, and I'd rather have these patches out of the way before that happens.
