AFAIK, you need to link with -lssp_nonshared -lssp.  My GCC's specs
have this:

  *link_ssp:
  %{fstack-protector|fstack-protector-all|fstack-protector-strong|fstack-protector-explicit:-lssp_nonshared -lssp}
