I agree; I was going to suggest it. And naturally, this is target dependent. On Windows/PE, there's no concept of symbol preemption, so looking in the current image / objfile would always be good. We already do something of the sort with solib_global_lookup -> elf_lookup_lib_symbol. -- Pedro Alves
