I have some remarks about the 32k insight patch you mentioned:
- src/configure is patched, not configure.in
- src/gdb/configure is patched, not configure.ac
you may lost these changes since configure files are generated from the 
other one.

- src/gdb/remote-sim.c: SIGTRAP definition in not used anymore since 
Mark Mitchell patch "Use target values for signals in simulator" (see 
http://sources.redhat.com/ml/gdb-patches/2005-11/msg00485.html)
