Hello,

This deprecates the global(1) variable child_ops .  Inferior 
inheritance, as implemented by the *BSDs, removes any need for this.

I'll look to commit in a week,

(1) While been global for years, this fact was carefully hidden by the 
use of "extern"s in C files, ugh!
