"cat >/dev/null" itself is user-entered command so that part is OK to be
non-cross-platform (therefore also "nul" is not valid).

OK, "cmd.exe" with "/c" seems easy enough.

Very, >, >>, &>, >&, &>>, x>&y, x>&y-, x<>y, many more.
