I had only tested $srcdir/configure.  I tried ./configure and it failed
in libstdc++-v3:

make[3]: *** No rule to make target `/big/fsf/projects/autoconf/gcc-1/i686-pc-linux-gnu/libstdc++-v3/../gcc/gthr.h', needed by `i686-pc-linux-gnu/bits/gthr.h'.  Stop.

I didn't introduce that, so it was already broken.  target-libiberty
built fine.

../gcc/configure worked fine.
